Why Be Counted?

Right now, nobody can say how many escape rooms Australia actually has. Not the media, not the government, not even us. The census fixes that — and every answer makes the number harder to ignore.

Benchmarks You Can Use

See how your venue compares — rooms, pricing bands, staffing — against real national numbers, not guesswork.

A United Voice

"We represent 500+ rooms nationally" opens doors with councils, insurers and media that no single venue can.

Powers the Directory

Opt in and your venue joins an accurate national escape room directory — refreshed every census, never stale.

Puts Us on the Map

One press-ready headline stat each year makes EROAUS the source journalists call about the industry.

How It Works

1. Ten Minutes, Once a Year

Simple factual questions about your venue. All questions optional, and you can combine multiple venues.

2. Aggregated & Anonymised

Individual responses stay confidential. Only combined statistics are ever reported.

3. Results Where They Belong

Full results go to verified owners in the Discord. One headline stat goes public to champion the industry.

The Plan

Census FAQ

Is it anonymous?

Yes — no question requires identifying information, and every question is optional. The only exception is if you opt in to the public directory, which naturally lists your venue name (that's the point of opting in).

Who sees the results?

Full aggregated results are released to verified owners in the EROAUS Discord. The public sees a single headline figure — think "Australia has X escape room businesses running Y rooms" — which helps all of us.

How is this different from the Benchmark Survey?

The Benchmark Survey covers sensitive performance data — revenue, rent, marketing spend — for owners who want detailed comparisons. The census is the lighter, structural count: who we are, where we are, and how many rooms we run.

I have multiple venues — how do I answer?

Either fill it in once per venue (best for the directory) or combine figures into one response — the form will let you say which you've done.

Why every year?

Venues open and close constantly. A yearly rhythm keeps the numbers credible, keeps the directory fresh, and lets us chart how the industry changes over time — that trend line becomes the industry's story.
